Title of Square: Repujado Sampler

I took my first class in Repujado (the very old art of metal embossing, also called Repousse in French) and felt an immediate connection to the metal. I had experimented with using metal in my mixed media artwork before and the creation of 3 dimensional patterns on pewter was magical. I have taught several classes which teach people basic techniques while creating a small finished piece. I have worked in tin covered pewter, copper and craft metal. This piece is pewter. I was thrilled to be compared to Giger as he was a spark to my imagination in 1979 when his work was featured in the movie "Alien."
